Mangaluru: Goods train engine derails as loco pilot fails to watch signal

Mangaluru, Sep 1: A single locomotive engine of a goods train derailed after the loco pilot 'overshot' the signal. The incident took place at Mangaluru Junction railway station at around 8 am here on Tuesday September 1.

According to reliable sources in the railway department, preliminary inquiry done by the officials of the railway department revealed that the incident occurred as the loco pilot did not watch the signal.

It is also learnt that the railway department will also hold a detailed inquiry into the incident. The problem will be set right within two hours, said top sources in the railway department.

DRM of Palakkad division Anand Prakash speaking to daijiworld said, that the locomotive train derailed as the loco pilot 'overshot' the signal.

    Surprising that the driver jumped the red signal. This is total negligence and he should be taken to task. Luckily it was not a passenger train.

    Lack of Sleep or was busy with his Mobile wch led to be negligible on duty..
