Bangalore: Wigan and Leigh College Showcase Annual Fashion Collection

Bangalore, Jun 26: Wigan and Leigh College (WLC), fashion department's passing out students showcased their annual collection on Monday, June 25 at WLC  campus.


Awardees - Shahala Bhojani, Pooja Jayakumar, Aparajita Bannerjee, Shobita Misra and Fathimath Naisha  

The students had worked on different themes, incuding the stained glass's art and craft, and the collection called 'Elegance Transpired'.

'Avenida' was another collection on leisure wear. Another collection was inspired by the elegance of snow and was aptly named as 'Snow Queen'

European art of 18th century was the inspiration for one very contemporary collection called 'Madame Royal'.
Whereas  the 'Road Rage' collection was inspired by  traffic jams.

The fabrics used, widely ranged from organza to lace, silk with brocades to georgettes to cottons and from linens to stretched knits.

Garments displayed were embellished with beads, stones, belts, studs, crystals and leather. The colors used were very youthful, vibrant and inspiring like greens, reds, orange, yellow, whites, gold and black.

Well known and successful personalities were called from the fashion industry to judge the student's work. The jury comprised of  designar Nirmal Mandot, B Madhuri Regional editor Femina. The jury appreciated the work of  the debutante students.

Fathima Naisha and Shahala both topped the jury with equal marks. Pooja Jaykumar got the most creative design award. Shobitha Misra was rewarded the most wearable design award, while Aparajita Banerjee got the technical award.
