Mangaluru: Hundreds delight in exhilarating slush field sports at Ira

Mangaluru, Sep 2: Adrenaline ran high as hundreds participated in slush field sports aptly named 'Kesarduonji Gauji Gamath', organized by Jai Shakti Mitra Mandali at Bhavabeedu slush fields in Ira recently.

Jai Shakti Mitra Mandali, which is celebrating its 10th anniverasy, organized the event to mark Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

Tharanath Kottary, the territorial convener of Odiyooru Shri Gurudeva Rural Development Project, inaugurated the occasion. Jai Shakti Mitra Mandali Sri Krishna Janmashtami committee president Harish Ira presided.

Tulu actor and theatre artiste Naveen D Padil, film actor Raghavendra Rai were the guests.

Progressive farmer Ulipadi Guthu Rajesh Naik, buisnessman Sathyapal Rai Kadenja, Bhagavati co-operative bank president Sadashiva Ullal, Coastal Group Mangaluru manager Y B Sundar, progressive farmer Venugopal Bhandary, zilla panchayat member Santhosh Kumar Rai Boliyar, businessman Vijesh Naik Narya Guthu, Jai Shakti Mitra Mandali Ira president Varadharaj M Eledarabhava and others were present.

Men, women and children of all age groups participated enthusiatically in games like volleyball, tug-of-war, throwball, race, breaking the pot, musical chair and many others.

Ira gram panchayat president Abdul Razaq Kukkaje, Tumbe gram panchayat vice-president Praveen B Thumbay, Bantwal taluk panchayat president Yashwanth D Deraje, Prasad Rai Kalimar, Sadanada Alva Arkula, Varadharaj M and many others were present.

Yathiraj Shetty Sampila, Dinesh Ira, Y B Sundar and Nagesh Poojary Kuriyadi compered the programme.
