MOGA, Jun 27: A small farmer of a nondescript village in Punjab's Barnala district has decided to contest the Presidential polls for the seventh time.

Mit Singh, 65, of Sehjra village under Nihalsingh Walaassembly constituency, had also contested many assembly polls but without any success.

Singh left for New Delhi on Tuesday to file his nomination papers.

He told reporters he had been filing his papers forthe top post since 1977 as it was his desire to become the President of India one day.

Singh said he had contacted a number of Vidhan Sabha members of the state, seeking their support.

He had contested from Barnala Vidhan Sabha seat and Sangrur parliamentary seat six times without success.
