Two Kerala Men deported from UAE Over Pro-IS Facebook Posts

Dubai, Sep 4 (Agencies) : The two men from Kochi were part of a group of around 10 from the subcontinent in the UAE who were found to have participated in IS propaganda and sharing pro-IS material on social media, sources said.

The UAE has deported two Indians whose social media accounts indicated that they were “radicalised and sympathetic” to the Islamic State, sources told The Indian Express.

The two men from Kochi were part of a group of around 10 from the subcontinent in the UAE who were found to have participated in IS propaganda and sharing pro-IS material on social media, sources said.

“The Facebook accounts of these men came under the scanner of authorities in the UAE, and they were deported in batches. The two men from Kerala were sent back to India on August 29,” said a source in the Intelligence services.

None of these men, however, had travelled beyond the UAE to join IS troops in Iraq or Syria, the source said.
“The two who were sent back to India have been interrogated by the Intelligence Bureau, and it was decided not to register any case against them. After putting them through some counselling sessions, they were allowed to return to their homes,” the source added. Sources declined to reveal the names of those deported to protect the identity of their families.

At a high-level meeting in New Delhi on August 1, police chiefs and home secretaries of 12 states were advised by the Home Secretary to adopt a “measured approach” to counter the threat of radicalisation of youth by the Islamic State.
On August 5, The Indian Express had reported that Intelligence agencies were aware that several youths from Kerala supported the Islamic State on social media platforms.

Most of the pro-Islamic State Facebook accounts of Keralites are operated from Gulf countries, they said.

There were also inputs that Saudi Arabia and UAE had cracked down on a few men from Kerala who had supported the Islamic State on social media.

Good move by UAE government. Those who are supporting or appreciating such extremism should realize that violence is no more tolerated anywhere in the world and also in the name of religion to discredit it. We need a violence free world to live peace fully and the world should work on it. The Most shocking thing is that such dreaded outfit is started by big powers although for different reasons, whether it is Taliban or ISS.

Islam doesn't preach or practice fanaticism and extremism.

The proof is here. UAE is an Islamic country like other GCC nations and these pro ISIS men were deported because of their anti Islamic beliefs. No true Muslim would ever even think of violence and killing innocents.

    Anil,

You are right when you say not to compare RSS and ISIS. but when you say RSS is patriotic organisation, thats when i think you have no real understanding what being a patriotic really is. Many of the activities your so call patriotic organisation does or supports with complete disregard to the constitution. And when somebody disregards constitution of their own country, how can such people be called patriotic?

Certain names I used to miss for few days...thanks God now they are active....And unfortunately these are the same people who justified kalburgis murder now preaching lesson on morality and barbarism for a fbook post...Modi should learn how to tackle extremism from GCC countries...Even if it be one of their own....Unfortunately in India it is not the case....zero tolerance of modi is only applicable to one set of extremism...when it comes to one of their own...NIA ...is advised "go soft"...coz if he goes hard he may erode his hindutva base which supported him and there may be people who may shout "our ideology is under attack"..That is why modi is camping in RSS HQ for past few days...We have guts to condemn ISIS,IM terrorism ...due you have guts to do the same on sanghi extremism...??This is the question need to be asked...We dont differentiate on.extremism....are you people doing the same....If those who justified killing of kalburgi ...can be released in one day...then those who justify ISIS should be dealt in same way...for their fbook comment...coz there is no much difference between these two ideologies....both speaks of violence...I hope Indian agency does the same
