Vice president greets people on Janmashtami


New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): Vice President Hamid Ansari on Friday greeted the people on Janmashtami.

"I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami," he said in a statement.

The statement said: "Janmashtami is celebrated across the country with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm, and it marks the birth of Lord Krishna and reminds us of his life and teachings."

"Lord Krishna's eternal message of spiritual wisdom, the Bhagvad Gita has been a source of inspiration for the entire mankind."

"May this auspicious day bring peace, amity, harmony and prosperity in our lives," he said.

Janmashatmi, to be celebrated on September 5, is a Hindu festival. It marks the birth of Lord Krishna.
