Mangaluru, Sep 4: Union law minister and BJP leader D V Sadananda Gowda on Friday September 4 said that he is committed to the controversial Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project and cannot comment on the problems faced by the state government over this issue.

Addressing reporters during his visit to SDM Law College in the city, where he inaugurated the SDM college Students' Bar Council, Sadananda Gowda said, "When I was the chief minister, I held meetings with the officials of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat and planned to undertake this project, and I am still committed to the project. Today my party does not have power in Karnataka state. I am a minister in the central government. I would not like to comment on the problems the state government is facing.

"I am extremely clear that when I was the chief minister of Karnataka, my duty was to see to it that every district, every person gets water. From that point of view, I approved this project. A man can live without food for a month, without newspaper and other things. But no man can survive for two days without drinking water," he said.

Sadananda Gowda's visit was marred by protests against the Yettinahole project. The protestors outside the SDM college showed black flags to oppose the project and to express anger against Sadananda Gowda. Dinesh Holla, convener of Sahyadri Samrakshana Sanchaya, Punik, Shashidhar Shetty, Harish, George and others who were waving black flags were detained by the Barke police and later released.

National Litigation Policy

On reducing the number of pending cases in various courts in India, Sadananda Gowda said, "The National Litigation Policy is ready and inter-ministerial meeting has been conducted in the presence of all the ministerial secretaries. I am moving the proposal to the Prime Minister to place it before the cabinet. I hope that within a month we will have the National Litigation Policy."

"With this policy, it prevents cases between departments and cases between public sector undertakings and departments from going to court. In other words, this policy aims at solving cases within the departments rather than going to the court. The government is the major litigant. In many cases, thegovernment is either a party or a respondent or in certain cases, the petitioner. For out-of-court settlement of cases that are already in court, we have created certain parameters. We have presented up to four bills and also planned to repeal more than 1,300 old laws from the statute books," he added.

DVS and all ministers without party affiliations of both state and central govt , will not be in this beautiful karnataka if a future catastrophe strikes us in future. they will be somewhere living or enjoying rest of their lives in some secure place. They have doomed coastal areas with harmful industries in guise of employment to locals. after all petroleum and power generating companies have started operating here we are facing shortages of Rain, Fisheries and in future water will be a luxury.

In coastal Karnataka there is no water for drinking and for cultivation. We are rich in water source but poor in utilisation of the available water. Huge rainwater is flowing to the sea. We are not planning to utilise the water for yearlong cultivation and for drinking purpose. Our leaders are getting the opportunity to serve their vote bank by sharing our valuable water. Is there any largest water project in Coastal Karnataka to serve our water demands throughout the year? First of all they have to plan for our irrigation projects.

Netravati water is going to sea is big amounts only during rainy season. During rainy season Chikballapur does not want water.
Development does not mean destroying nature. Development does not mean building more concrete jungles. Development means people are happy and able to live easily and in harmony with nature.

Why is there water problem in Chikballapur, do you know? There were so many lakes in Bangalore and because of the so called "Development" every lake is filled and apartment buildings are built. For supplying water for flats borewells are dug. There is no water in borewells because there are no lakes to recharge the ground water.

First, we have to keep our house in order. That means, if chikballapur and Bangalore focuses on re-charging ground water and reviving lakes then automatically water problem will be solved. There will be no need to spend 12000 crores and divert Netravati.
As for we Mangaloreans, we too have to keep our house in order. That means when somebody is trying to steal from your house, you try to prevent it. That is the reason for protest. Otherwise, once Netravati is diverted, our ground water also won't be recharged. Even if you dig borewell there won't be water. Dakshina Kannada's landscape is such that we depend on the rivers for ground water too. There are no lakes here like in Bangalore. Landscape is different, weather is different, Flora and fauna too are different.

So you may ask, then why are they not focusing on re-charging ground water? Because then there is no big budget project. If there is no big budget project, a politician does not get his percentage. So politicians usually play it safe, they want the people's support so they talk one thing. They want money, so they do another thing.
In Bangalore, it's normal nowadays that people call a tanker when there is no water. Earlier per tanker was 300 rupees, nowadays it is 800 RS. The same situation will come in Mangalore also.

Those who are opposing this project requesting you people to stay in Kolar and chikkaballapur districts villages for a month. then you will come to know the water problem of ours. This is not giving problem to any one, we are asking water for our survival. Already 35 to 40% of village people left our district leaving there age old people in the villages reason no water even for daily usage, then what about drinking purpose.oURS MAIN OCCUPATION IS ONLY AGRICULTURE nw having borewell as only source for drinking water purpose that also we are getting water from 1200 to 1500 foot depth. My village having population of 953 members only one borewell that is only used for drinking purpose. for daily usage we getting water from 5 km. Ours morning 3 hours and evening 3 hours gone in bringing water only. Why we asking water is we didnt get proper rains from 2001 think that if you didnt get rain for these much long then what you will do.

We understand that there are severe problems in kolar, and we don't like it.
What we are saying is, even if the project is complete, there won't be water flowing towards kolar or chickballapur simply because there is no water in Netravati. So you won't get water even if the project is a "success".
People are under the impression that there is lot of water in South Kanara, which is false. Getting drinking water is a problem here too during summer. You can visit South Kanara during summer and check if I am telling the truth.
There is 12000 crores to eat, so politicians have made people believe that they will get water from Netravati somehow.

Here is The main person who approved and sanctioned yettinahole drinking project despite knowing dhakahina kannada n coastal n western ghats region very well. He ditched people from coastal belt on several occasions. Yeddyji made him cm, he cud have helped people from D.k. but instead chose to harm more. he had golden opportunity just like veerappa moily to do justice to people of tulunaadu but he was more worried about shoba-Yeddy nexus that was plotting his downfall for being close to devegowdaji.
