Mumbai: Kannada Sangha Santacruz extends financial help to students

Mumbai, Sep 4: “Kannda Sangha was established 57 years ago with the main aim of providing education to Tulu Kannadiga students. It is our motto to serve the society in education, health and culture," said
Kannada Sangha Santacruz president L V Ameen.



He was speaking during a programme held for distribution of financial aid to students at Santacruz Billava Bhavan on Sunday August 30. "The eligible talented students who are deprived of scholarships are handed over more than Rs 1 lac. Those students should remember to wipe the tears of others in the future," he said.

Businessmen Jagadish P Oman, Raghurama Shetty Belgaum and Prakash C Shetty distributed the aid and conveyed their best wishes. Advocate Somanath B Ameen was the chief guest. N M Salin was present.

"There were no donors when we studied. We worked and studied in night school. May the help provided by Kannada Sangha be an armour to the students”, said vice president Nithyananda D Kotian. Honorary treasurer CA Ramesh Shetty said that if students set aside WhatsApp and internet and concentrate on studies till the age of 24, there is no doubt that they will be excellent citizens.

Joint secretary Chandrahas J Kotian, joint treasurer R P Haggade, advisory committee member B D Suvarna, social and cultural committee executive president Sharada S Poojary, members Shivaram Kotian, G R Bangera, Suma S Pooary, Prasanna Shetty, Jaya A Kotian, Lingappa Ameen, Shalini G Shetty, Chandayya Poojary and others were present.

Cultural committee secretary Laxmi N Kotian led the prayer. Education committee executive president Bannanje Ravindra Ameen welcomed the gathering. Honorary chief secretary Sujatha Shetty compered the programme. Education committee secretary Sudhakar Uchil proposed the vote of thanks.
