Jaya demands water, Siddu says not possible

Daijiworld Media Network-Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Sep 6: When more than three quarters of the Karnataka state is suffering from draught related problems, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa has demanded water from Karnataka.

Jayalalithaa known for her hard bargains has written a letter to the prime minister Narendra Modi asking him to direct Karnataka to follow the Cauvery water disputes tribunal’s final award.

Jayalalithaa has accused Karnataka of not releasing water intentionally as per the requirement of the award. The letter has been written on September 3.

‘Karnataka has enough stock of water presently in its four reservoirs in the Cauvery region. It has been utilising this water for agricultural purposes since July’ the letter reads.

Jayalalithaa has also demanded to constitute other committees to facilitate flow of Cauvery water into her state. The letter says ‘Tamil Nadu has received 66.44 TMC of water when it was supposed to receive 94 TMC. The shortfall of 27.56 TMC should not have taken place’

Siddaramaiah says No

Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah has said that Tamil Nadu should understand the present realities before demanding water from the state.

"Everybody knows that we have the worst draught problem. We are witnessing such situation after 40 years. We have less than half water in our reservoirs. How can we release water to Tamil Nadu now?” Siddaramaiah said in Mysuru replying to jayaallithaa's demands.

“When we had water, we had released enough. We gave them water in June and July when we had the surplus. Now when we are having the problems with water, they should understand our problems and should share our woes.” Siddaramaiah added.

The irony is that inspite of having the Krishnarajasagar Dam (KRS Dam) in Mandya district bordering Mysore, majority of the Mysoreans do not get drinking water from this dam. We drink borewell water to this day. How can jayamma expect water for Tamilnadu? Charity begins at Home. True we should share natural resources which is a gift of God with our fellow citizens, but drinking water for the localities should not be compromised by a civilised government. Unfortunately none of the Karnataka Governments have turned their attention to this fact.

Tulunadu was part of Madras State until 1950. Our culture more resembles with Tamilians & Malyalis than Kannadigas..... ! Since Karnataka Govt is doing many injustice to coastal districts we may demand to join Kerala, Tamil Nadu or for a Separate State..... :)

Please spare me,I am proud to be in katnataka. As they are more tolerant when it comes to language.Unlike malayalis and Tamilians. If u go to bangalore by auto and start speaking kannada, they smile n also start speaking library kannada(mlor kannada). In life compromising /adjustments very important, which has scarcity in coastal areas.we need to improve on this line.

Water is very precious for living. They need to resolve this issue on humanitarian grounds. We can share when critical situation arises. Leaders need to sit and resolve this issue for the benefit of people in both the states.

When there is excess water, Jaya should plan to stock the water, but they are busy stocking money for their future enjoyment. June, July and August there is excess water, so lay a water plan in the state of Tamil Nadu. Dont plan how to fool the people and in their name, make money and money and money.

    Dear Bryan, Bahrain,

Not even for water we are fighting, we are fighting for our own district and for our own languages.

When the Kaveri river sharing tribunal awarded how much Karnataka should release water to Tamil Nadu (Now the tribunal verdict was appealed and it is n the supreme court) one should notice the Netizens were hurling insults, venom and abuses at each other as if both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are not Indians but as if they are Aliens.

DUE TO DROUGHT SITUATIONS IN KARNATAKA WHERE THERE WAS LESS WATER FALL / RAIN FALL FROM THE NATURE WHERE WE CAN PROVIDE WATER TO TAMIL NADU.

    This lady is Crazy.

Yes, people are least bothered to save life of mangalore. Karnataka people want to take away water from tulunaad and want to keep water with themselves and not to give few quantity of water to other state. Again wants water for north karnataka from other state maharastra.
    When Tulu people will understand?
