Rajasthan forms task force to tackle seasonal diseases

Jaipur, Sep 9 (IANS): With increase in seasonal diseases like malaria and dengue, the Rajasthan government has decided to cancel leave of government doctors and has also constituted a task force to monitor the situation.

"We do not want to take any chances. We have constituted task forces-one at the state level, other at the district-level and also at block level," a senior official told IANS.

The state-level task force will hold review meetings twice a week, he added.

Leave of doctors has been cancelled and they have been asked to report at their respective hospitals.

He said directions have been issued to conduct blood and other diagnostic tests at the earliest on the patients showing signs of malaria, dengue or swine flu.

The state government has also decided to start screening of patients showing symptoms similar to Swine Flu.

Earlier this year, over 390 people died due to Swine Flu in the state.
