Bangalore: Meet Highly Talented Twin Sisters Shruti and Smriti Bhat

Bangalore, Jul 3: Twin sisters Shruti and Smriti performed  under the direction with Guru Praveen Kumar at Yavanika, Bangalore on Monday night.

The programme named 'Ankura Yuva Nrutyotsava' was organized by Karnataka Nrutyakala Parishat.

Shruti and Smriti were born on June 1, 1984 as daughters of  Vasumati and G K Bhat. Their dedication in learning Classical dance brought melody and meaninig into their lives. The talented duo started learning Bharatanatyam under the able guidance of Shubharani Bolar,  a well-known stage artiste and a committed teacher.

The girls continued the training under Indira Kadambi, also a renowned dancer and a dedicated tutor. Currently, Shruti and Smriti are under the tutelage of yet another dancer and dedicated guru P Praveen Kumar, founder of Chitkala School of dance,  Basavanagudi,  Bangalore.

Shruti and Smriti have performed on various occasions in different parts of the country and their performances have been appreciated for the aesthetic rendering of the kritis, for the exquisite abhinaya and footwork. Their dance movements speak volumes about the efforts put in by the gurus, disciples and the parents.

The immense encouragement, support and guidance given by G K Bhat, the proud father who is a leading advocate,  and Vasumat, the loving mother, have gone a long way in bringing forth the best in these young artistes.

The twin sisters are at present pursuing their Masters in Biotechnology at Bangalore University. They have been able to successfully combine their academic pursuits in higher education with their chosen passion - Bharatanatyam.

They also love learning languages and are proficient in English, Hindi, Deutsche (German) and Kannada, their mother tongue.  Their hobbies are writing short poems and loving pets.
