Mangaluru, Sep 10: A man was brutally attacked by three miscreants at Chembugudde under Ullal police station limits on Thursday September 10.

Lancy D'Souza (32), a resident of Pandith House, Santoshnagar in Ullal was on his way home from work when he was attacked.

It is said that Lancy, who does welding work, was on his way home when a Swift car followed his scooter and hit him. As Lancy fell off from the scooter, three men emerged out of the car and brutally assaulted him with machetes. They then fled from the spot leaving the car behind.

A critically injured Lancy was admitted to a private hospital.

Upon inspection, machetes and sickles were found in the car and at the spot.

The motive behind the attack and the identities of the assailants are not yet known. However, it is learnt that Lancy is an accused in the murder of HJV activist Yathish Poojary in 2004. Lancy had been arrested in the case and only two weeks back he got out on bail. It is suspected that the attack may be connected to this case.

Ullal police have registered a case and investigation is on.

Mangalore was never a peaceful place for atleast 40 years as far as I know. There was always goondaism in this place. I don't want to name the Ganga but, this is true. The main problem with mangalore is from last 40years ever since people started going to gulf or Mumbai for work the people back home stopped agriculture which was the main source of our home town. The free money from a working me member of the family was coming freely and the people back home started either doing goondagiri or showkibhaji . As the money with each community grew .. They started funding the rowdy elements and started creating a henchmens. These wayward young guys doesn't know what they are doing.! For them it looks fun to go in somebody's car and threaten people. And with weapons in hand and spirit in stomach they get high in killing people. Law of the land is also such that, these killers are allowed to move freely. There are supporters for these rowdy element in all community. Final result is these rowdies will loose life and their family will come to street . They are not realising this now. do anyone agree to my opinion .

When Ganguly was Captain, the Mangalore was peaceful and after we won the world cup, slowly violence started to dominate Mangalore. Dhoni must be help responsible for these types of attacks. Also one more thing, it all started after the hit movies like Dabang and Singam. If these types of movies can become hit, anything can happen
Since most of the businesses are not very busy due to power shortages, labour issues, lack of demands etc, we should immediately 5 working days and Saturday & Sunday should be for Masti & Kusti. Finally everybody should come together and fight against Ettinahole project and save Nethravati. please agree my comments. Disable the disagree button.

What you are talking about Mr. Peter, other criminals to be pardoned or other people of Karnataka facing the same situation to be neglected.?

    Who is minority?

    First talk about humanity !!

Then think of the failure of Law & order in Karnataka under present ruling, whoever it may be !!

Don't prove yourself as a paralysed person by taking advantage of minority word.

let us fight against the crimes together without dividing in to groups.

The gangsterism growing in Mangalure city and suburbs due to patronage of politicians, police, black marketeers, drug mafias, few builders and few big business houses.Few of these underground goons are graduated from Mumbai on criminology, then migrated to Mangalure for better prospects. They are all the bi - products of internal rivalry of big business house, religious fundamentalist, our rotten politician, prostitute racketeers, drug mafias, gambling dens etc. since these type of business require goons help and in return they prosper. More over they get social recognition because of their money, wrong value adopted in social system.
