Mangaluru, Sep 11: In a tragic case, a woman from Bengaluru was found abandoned at KSRTC bus stand here on Friday September 11. Members of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike rescued her and handed her over to the police, who in turn sent her to an ashram.

The woman, Sumathi, is a widow. She has two sons and a brother in Mangaluru, and is said to be well-to-do, but abandoned without any money in her hand.

She was staying in Bengaluru, but after the death of her husband she shifted to Mangaluru and stayed in a rented house at Deralakatte.

One of her sons then shifted her to a guest house, but as she did not have any money to pay the rent, she was put out of there. Her sons then took her back to Bengaluru and then to Chennai. In between, her brother too had shifted her to some house but she did not stay there long. Her sons again shifted her to a guest house in Mangaluru.

However, as she had no money of her own to pay the rent, she again had to leave the guest house and then started living near the bus stand.

She spent a few days lingering near the bus stand and all her efforts to reach her sons for help went in vain as they did not respond to her calls, it is said, and neither did she have money to travel.

Tulunada Rakshana Vedike on learning of her plight on Friday went to her rescue and shifted her to a guest house, and later took her to the women police station.

The police sent her to an Ashram at Fajir and efforts to locate her sons are on.

The Vedike members filed a complaint with the police in which they said that Sumathi owns two houses in Bengaluru and land in Mangaluru, and expressed suspicions that a property dispute may be behind the case. They urged the police to investigate the matter from all angles.

As cases like abandoning parents under some pretex is increasing, parents should never distribute property and wealth until their last day. There are several cases of children abandoning parents telling that they did not get proper share after getting the property and wealth.

A mother sacrifices everything for her children. All her dreams get woven around her children. But if her husband is abusive, the children also follow the same route when they grow up and disrespect the mother and abuse her knowing fully well that this woman, their mother did not take any action to protect her self respect when their father made the mother a object of abuse and now too she will put up with the children's abuse and not do anything. So it is for us women to wake up from our sleep and put an end to abuse the first time it happens.

I am a mother of two,in recent years I delivered. In both my deliveries, i had more than 12-16 hrs of labour pain.Pain was so unbearable that i cut nurse uniform buttons.I even said doctor please let me undergo C-section and finally lord shown mercy upon me and delivered naturally.
Why I am saying my story is when the labour process was going on ,i was given antibiotics ,uterus contraction boosters etc to ease my pain. But during this mother's time I am wondering how much trouble she might have taken to get her sons out.Its heart wrenching how children drift their mother's apart eithin no time.
Those who do this are living in fools paradise because they don't know Age cannot pause, they only stop that too only for death. Then what makes you to think that you will have royal life in oldage.
Teachers and parents from both schools and religious institution should promote parenthood in a child at a very young age.

Glad to read that she was rescued in time, GOD bless the noble act of compassion.

This lady is well dressed-bone and skin-distinguished looking with a totally depressed face. How ruthless her children were to discard her as trash?

How far the world will be advancing in this direction? Too heart-breaking to read such news every day about human cruelty and lack of empathy.

"She owns two houses in Bangluru and land in Mangluru", even on conservative estimates one can imagine the value of this property plus where is here personal jewellery, husbands bank balance. It appears the greedy sons have gotten together and siphoned off the entire property and now she has nothing with her they can grab when she goes away, so having done their job they are dumping her from one place to another like an orphan, what a pitiable state!! What great sons and brother!!!

Fr. Lobo: Hello, I am Manager of St Xavier High School. Am I talking to Santan, father of Ronald who is in our school ?
Santan: Yes father, anything wrong my son has done ?
Fr. Lobo: See, you know our school is 100 years old and all our students are doing well in life and we give more attention to our students character along with study. We have been making a data bank of students information and hence, I want to ask you some questions regarding your desire from your son after his studies.
Santan: Yes father, ask, I will tell you what we want him to become and what we desire from him after I retire.
Fr. Lobo: BTW, you also studied in the same school and let me read out to you what your father 35 years ago told us about you. Your father told, he wants you to become a good citizen and good employee in a nice co. He, looking at the sacrifices your mother made for you, at least after his death, he wants you to take care of her as a dutiful son. I am sorry I heard your daddy is no more, but, I think you have not forgotten the morals we taught and your father's wishes.
Santan: Hello, hello, hello father, I don't hear anything and cuts the line.

Hope the abandoned woman's sons realise the consequence of their irresponsible behaviour and take steps to look after their mother, in her time of helplessness.

May God bless the selfless members of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike and inspire many others to take up this noble work of social service.

That is why it is always better to have daughters instead of sons. I don't know why indian society always prefer sons (more the merrier).

Sons, after they get married will be in their wives side, and his old mother is then considered a liability, and the sons are only eyeing the ancestral property at the behest of their wives.

Daughters will always have unconditional love for their mothers, even after marriage, and will be the same. Sons after marriage, change and become different.

@Mrs.A.M.Udipi,you are 100%correct.I am sure you must have heard a saying among old Generation, that a Lady had 7 sons was happy ,later one by one married and the day came where one by one had tried to push her to the next ,last she had no shelter to stay.and she said, instead of 7sons, if God had given me 7daughters,atleast every day a daughter would offer me a Cup of conji water and survived.well it doesnt apply to everyone. But mostly where a piece of land and some Money is there then even daughters are also not very friendly some times. One Thing I see in Pictures. There are so many Ladys are Walking by her side, and Lady is having some luggage with her and she alone carrying with her .cant some one help her ?only for Fotos ?one has some bag carrying.
