Kasargod: Bank robbery - Four in police custody, car and bike seized

Kasargod, Sep 12: In connection with the sensational robbery at Eriyal branch of Kudlu Service Cooperative Bank recently, the policemen have since identified all the robbers involved. Three persons who helped the accused to flee to Mangaluru and the fourth one, who are in police custody now, helped the police in identifying the culprits.

The Mitsubishi Lancer car in which the accused reportedly fled, and also a motor bike the police believe was used for the robbery, have been seized. The investigators have also learnt that the accused had stayed in the town on the night of robbery, and that although they had initially planned to go to Mangaluru by bus, at the last minute they changed plans and used to car to escape. The police personnel have also gathered that the accused were helped in their effort to run away by the leader of an organization here. 
 
The police believe that the robbers have either gone to Mumbai or Bengaluru from Mangaluru. The Lancer car used for the main accused to flee has a registration number of Ernakulam district, and it is reliably gathered that its owner is from Kasargod. The police are now trying to find out the role of the car owner in this robbery.
 
Although the police raided the house of the main suspect and his wife near the town, they did not find him there. The police have also learnt that the man who called them from Mumbai with an offer to reveal identities of robbers for a handsome reward, was from Uduma, and that his aim was to mislead the police personnel. They have  also been investigating the caller's role in this episode.
