Udupi, Jul 4: The National Highway (NH) 17 in the district has become a nightmare to motorists, since there lie potholes on few stretches of the highway while in some stretches the asphalt has turned smoother thereby making driving vulnerable to mishaps.

The national highway that passes within the jurisdiction of the Udupi district has been repaired recently. However, the incessant rains have extensively damaged the highway where potholes are a common sight everywhere. Hence, the stretch of highway from Uchil, Kaup and Adhi Udupi has proved risky for the traffic. The road about 100 metres length at Uchil has been severely damaged and the situation here is pathetic.

On the other hand, accidents have been taking place at Pangala near Udyavar owing to the smooth surface of the highway. Hence, the entire highway at the purview of Udupi has caused panic among the motorists. Therefore, the people have urged the NH authorities, to restore the highway in order to avoid accidents.

One for the Roads !
