Bengal woman killed in Grand Mosque tragedy: Mamata


Kolkata, Sep 12 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said a woman from the state is among those killed in the crane accident at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

"As of now, one death and two injuries have been reported from our state. Muniza Ahmed from Asansol has lost her life. Liakat Hossain from West Midnapore and Hasem Ali from Malda have received injuries," Banerjee said on Facebook.

Banerjee also said a round-the-clock control room with a toll free helpline -18003457155 has been opened.

"Contact is being made with relatives of the dead and the injured for all help and support. My deep condolence to the bereaved families. I also wish speedy recovery of the injured," added Banerjee.

The ministry of external affairs on Saturday said two Indians were among the 107 people killed and 15 Indians were injured in the accident on Friday night.
