One dead in Delhi factory fire

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IANS): A labourer died while two others, including a three-year-old child, were left badly injured when a fire broke out in a factory after a pesticide cylinder blast here on Saturday morning, police said.

The incident took place around 7 a.m. at a factory reportedly being run illegally in Kirari area of west Delhi.

Twenty two-year-old Sonu died in the incident while Anil, 3, and an 18-year-old girl Komal were badly burnt.

"The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where they are being treated with over 80 percent burn injuries," said a police official.

Police said pesticide, used to kill cockroaches and insects, was being manufactured in the factory.

"Prima facie evidence reveals that leakage in any pesticide cylinder might have led to a blast and a fire," a police official said.

A case of negligence has been registered against the owner of the factory, which was being run in a residential area.
