Gurgaon police squad to tackle women harassment


Gurgaon, Sep 13 (IANS): A special police squad is being set up in Gurgaon to free this millennium city from high incidence of harassment of women, Haryana Director General of Police Yashpal Singhal said here on Sunday.

He said only women police personnel will be recruited to the squad and they will be in civil clothes.

Singhal made the announcement as he visited the only women police station here in Sector 51 and directed city police commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk to take steps to form the squad.

Virk said: "We have assured the DGP Haryana that we shall make Gurgaon free of eve teasing within a short period of time."
