Berlin, Sep 13 (IANS): The huge influx of migrants into southern Germany has continued unabated, with the Munich police reporting 12,200 more have arrived, according to media on Sunday.
But the city authorities have again warned that they are at "the limit" when it comes to coping with the numbers of refugee influx, BBC reported.
"We have reached the upper limit of our capacity," a police spokesman said, as frantic efforts were under way to accommodate the new arrivals.
"We lack 1,000 to 5,000 places," Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter said.
The authorities are considering using a sports venue from the 1972 Olympics, the Olympiahalle, as a temporary shelter.
Dieter also repeated his call for other German regions to take in more migrants.
Record numbers have also been crossing from Serbia into Hungary.
More than 4,000 people walked across the border with Serbia on Saturday - the most so far in one day - just as the authorities in Hungary were completing preparations to seal the frontier.
