Mangaluru: KNS and Kavita Trust hold poetry reciting competition

Mangaluru, Sep 13 : Konkani Natak Sabha in association with Kavita Trust organized Konkani poetry reciting competition at Don Bosco hall here on Sunday September 13.

The Competition was held in three categories - below 15 years, 15 to 30 years and above 30 years.






















In the below 15 years category 17 competitors took part in the competition. Prithuma Monteiro of Vamanjoor parish bagged the first prize, Wencita Dias of Angelore parish bagged the second prize and Aldon Vinoy D’Souza of Bajpe parish bagged the third prize. 

In the 15 to 30 years category 15 competitors took part in the competition. Adline J. D’Souza of Angelore parish bagged the first prize, Frivita D’Souza of Gurpur parish bagged the second prize and Winston Lobo of Urwa parish bagged the third prize.

In the above 30 years category 3 competitors took part in the competition. Cyril Fernandes of Paldane parish bagged the first prize, Edwin Vas of Kelarai Parish and Irene Rodrigues of Ashoknagar Parish bagged the consolation prizes.

All the winners of Children category along with Nishel Flora D'Almeida, Kulshekar and Shyna D'Silva, Bondel are chosen to take part in the finals of Nelson and Lavina Rodricks sponsored Cha. Fra. DeCosta memorial All Karnataka Konkani Poetry reciting competition during Kavita Fest which will be held on January 10, 2016.

In the youth category all the winners along with Shwetha Pai, Manjeshwar have been selected to take part in the finals of Rohan and Lavita Monteiro, All India Konkani poetry reciting competition in January.

While Nelson Rodricks distributed the certificates to children, CGS Taccode, Konkani poet and Geetha C Kini, President, Konkani Bhasha Mandal, distributed certificates to the youth.

William Pais, Dr B. Devadas Pai and Andrew L. D’Cunha were the judges.

Fr Cyprian Peter D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Raymond D’Cunha and Vitori Karkal compered the programme. Kavita Trust president Melvyn Rodrigues announced the results and proposed vote of thanks.

Trustee Averyl Rodrigues, writers J F D'Souza, Secretary of KNS Sunil Menezes, Comedian Dolla Manglur and others were present.
