President greets Costa Rica on Independence Day


New Delhi, Sep 14 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday extended his greetings to the people and government of Costa Rica on the country's Independence Day.

"On behalf of the Government and the people of India and on my own behalf, I have great pleasure in extending my warm greetings to you and to the people of Costa Rica on the occasion of your National Day," Mukherjee said in his message to the President of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica celebrates its Independence Day on September 15.

"India and Costa Rica have a history of friendship and cooperation. Our bilateral relations are also being strengthened under the India-SICA Dialogue to which India attaches great importance."

He also said that the recent exchange of visits between India and Costa Rica has generated a new momentum in our bilateral relations. "I am confident, Excellency, that the friendly ties between our two countries will receive further impetus in the years to come."

Costa Rica is a Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific.
