Turkey lifts second curfew from Kurdish city


Ankara, Sep 14 (IANS): The Turkish authorities on Monday lifted a second curfew imposed on the predominantly Kurdish southeastern city of Cizre.

The curfew was imposed since 7.00 p.m. on Sunday, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

This was the second curfew declared in Cizre, where putative operations to apprehend members of the separatist terrorist organisation, the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

It came just 36 hours after the state finally lifted a siege that had last more than a week and which resulted in the deaths of over 20 civilians.
