Appoint Arabic expert to study 'anti-national' Madrasa syllabus-HC

Bengaluru, Sep 15 : The High Court on Monday, September 14 asked the state government to appoint an Arabic expert to study the syllabus being taught at two Islamic institutions in Dakshina Kannada district.

The institutions in question are, Mohiddin Jumma Masjid and Darul Uloom Madrasa, both Wakf institutions.

Mohammed Iqbal and Myyadi from Mangaluru have filed writ appeal seeking directions to Mohiddin Jumma Masjid and Darul Uloom Madrasa to teach Samastha Kerala Sunni Vidyabyasa Board syllabus which teaches Arabic with Kannada translation. Presently Samastha Kerala Islam Matha Vidyabyasa Board, Samastha Malalayam, Chelari (SKIMVB) syllabus is being followed in the institutions.

The appelants have mentioned in the application that the 'anti-national' things were being taught at the mentioned institutions. The bench comprising S K Mukherji opined that one should not use such expressions without knowing. Justice Mukherji also said that if any ‘anti-national’ content is found in the syllabus, then it should be scrapped immediately without any second thought.

The appellants said that SKIMVB being an unregistered board should not force the Madrasas of Dakshina Kannada to follow its syllabus. The syllabus in question was presented to the court, but as none of persons present had the knowledge of Arabic, the court decided that a person well-versed in Arabic language will have to study the syllabus to know the content in it. The court directed the government that it should present the expert opinion in two weeks time when the court resumes the hearing.

The single bench of the high court had dismissed the application by the appellants in February 2015. The appellants moved the present writ petition contending that, since the Wakf Board has already issued a direction to impart education as per the existing syllabus, no further directions were required. The application said that despite government circular and the district Wakf Board communication, the Madrasas in question continued the SKIMVB syllabus.

The appellants have sought directions to set aside the single bench order.

    One of our charity organisations already appointed Arabic teachers in Mangalore.It is strictly for females.Girls are chosen from poor background who aspire to become teacher.All financial aids meeted out by Charity.They are sent to hyderabad arabic academy for final assessments.I request other organisations also to educate child from poor background.Make them pillar of the nation.
    Madrasa revolution is a must at present world where a child becomes target of sexual offence.Female teacher should teach females.
    Parents should daily ask their children about their activities.

    Mayyadi and Iqbal had some other intention...its all about ego clash in the name of religion...While religion speaks of shedding ego and be united those who claim to be caretaker of religion are doing exact opposite even joining with other people to malign their own people...It so shame to look at the intention of these people...Let the court translate...and let the madrassa text be distrubuted for those people who have serious doubt on what we preach....I will bet madrassa text doesn't speak in favour of any nation nor against...But what about text which speaks in favour of hindu nation taught by sanghi school is it patriotism or anti national...can anyone clarify...

    Article 25 of the constitution says
    State shall not discriminate against any citizen on the ground of religion only and that the State shall have no religion of its own and all persons shall be equally entitled to the freedom of conscience and the right freely to profess, practice and propagate religion.
    Any citizen, group or association who doesn’t respect the constitution is an anti national. Any individual or group proclaims India as Hindu Rashtra, Muslim Rashtra, Jain Rashtra, Christian Rashtra or Rashtra belong to any one particular religion is an ANTI NATIONAL.

    Brother Shankar,
    It can't be agreed as u know nation can get divided geographically or some colonisation takes place.See syrians ,what could they do.Did Assad regime benefit them ?did syrian soil rescue them?Only Almighty can help us.Nobody else.So to reach Almighty there is an institution called religions but it has different languages like hinduism,Islam,christianity etc.Problem appears when it contradicts with nation.But no religion teaches to hate their nation.
    I love my God and his religion and seek counsel with him.whereas I love my nation too.If anyone insults both the above I am ready to fight for them.

    Of course God and his religion.If i was immortal then it would have been nation,but sad that humans are temporary edition.
    But if my country is in danger then i have to fight for it.I cant simply see and relax.we have to protect our soil.This is what my religion teaches.

    This issue has nothing to do with the madrasa syllabus but purely financial interest of group clashes.Its madrasa teaches us that patriotism is also part of EEMAAN as it was told by prophet.

    If the Petitioners are proved to be true, then the stringent legal action shall be taken against the errant persons who are responsible for such syllabus. In addition to that such syllabus need to be scraped without any delay. however if the petitioners failed to convince the Honorable Court, then the substantial fine shall be imposed on the petitioners.

    But kindly understand one thing, the religion and country are the two different important aspects in our life. Never and ever mix up this two aspects. Please restrict religious things only to uplifting of religion in good sense and for true religious practice. Whereas the country where we live shall be truly respected and regarded in all related matters.

    I wrote this neither to harm someone's feeling nor appease others.

    Let our good human sense prevail.

    As a guardian of student of above Madarasa i never come through any anti national or extreme ideology were thought in above institutions syllabus.It is very unfortunate to see that because of rivalry between two Kerala based Madarasa board some people going these low blaming as Anti nation leading to create misunderstanding and mistrust with other community about our Madarasa education.I hope when claims are found false then court should take severe action against the applicant.And it is in the interest of our entire community that better to keep distance from Kerala based any Madarasa board and start our own in Kannada instead of depending on Malayalam language which is extra burden on our children to learn one more language
