Four held with explosives in Assam


Guwahati, Sep 15 (IANS): Four people were arrested and a cache of explosives was recovered from them in Assam's Cachar district, police said on Tuesday.

The explosives include one improvised explosive device (IED), one detonator, 52 gelatin sticks and a map, police said, adding that the four were arrested from a house near Silchar.

"There were specific information about the explosives and based on the information, we raided the house and could recover them and made the arrest the four people," said a top district police officer.

The arrested have been identified as Aataur Rahman Laskar, Ajzal Hussain Laskar, Azmal Hussain Laskar and Maskar Ali Laskar, the police official said.

"It is, however, not yet sure as to what are their intentions or if they are associated with some terror outfits," the official said, adding that interrogation is on to get the details and ascertain their motives.
