Kabul, Sep 15 (IANS): At least 70 Taliban militants were killed during military operations in different provinces of Afghanistan, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.
"Within the past 24 hours, over 70 insurgents were killed, 42 were injured and six other insurgents were detained during military operations throughout the country," Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry as saying.
Huge amount of arms and ammunition were also seized by security forces, said the statement.
A total of 12 army personnel were killed within the same period, the statement said.
The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.
