Karnataka govt announces reward to informants of Kalburgi's assassins

Bengaluru, Sep 15 (PTI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said the government has announced Rs five lakh to those who could provide clues about the murder of noted Kannada progressive writer and scholar M M Kalburgi.

The government has decided to give a reward of Rs five lakh to whoever gives information about Kalburgi's murder. The identities of the informants would be kept secret, he told reporters here after meeting the families of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, the rationalists who were killed in Maharashtra, and Kalburgi, who was shot dead at Dharward in Karnataka on August 30.

The families during their meeting with the Chief Minister demanded speedy investigation into the case and were assured by him that the culprits would soon booked.

"I told the relatives that the investigation is underway and we are hopeful of hunting down the killers," he said adding that CID is probing the matter.

"The relatives met me and demanded expediting the investigation to hunt down the culprits and find out who were the forces behind Kalburgi's murder. Already we have taken up the case very seriously. In this regard, we have formed eight teams who are investigating the case," he said.

Asked whether the relatives demanded handing over the case to CBI, Siddaramaiah said there was "more clamour" for CID probe than CBI and hence "we did not give it to the latter."

Siddaramaiah also said the government will take stringent action against people who indulge in making instigating remarks and speeches.

Siddaramaiah also assured the family members of passing the anti-superstition bill in Karnataka assembly after examining the Maharashtra anti-superstition bill.

"The family members also demanded to immediately pass anti-superstition bill ... we are examining the Maharashtra anti-superstition bill," he said.

When the police couldn't able to catch a culprit ( with proof) who attacked a women inside ATM which is recorded in CCTV & that to in Bangalore then just forget about this case. There is no coordination between Government & police force, that to Home Minister. He is unfit for that post, he has been alloted this Ministry only to appease Minorities, nothing else. Congress is known for that , they are not bothered about any issues.

Kalburgi and Dhabolkar's killing is clear indication that there is strong under current enmity against religious and cultural reformers from religious and cultural fanatics.
If society is reformed and become moderate, fanatics will loose their money making, deceiving business!
They will have to work hard for their living, which they are not used to.

It is OK to doubt what you have been taught to believe. By killing you can't stop writing the things that are true. The shocking news is the government is helpless to protect the citizens. What a shame that our country's law is a joke and our Govt has kept an award for criminals to be traced by the citizens. Who can save us.

    Clues
    Two individuals:

1.The culprits are hardcore criminals (professional killer or hardcore believer) at least one, who shot victim, is having similar kind of killing previous hardcore experience, might had alcohol or Drugs in the morning but before committing the crime, age between 18 years 35 years,

    2. Came to that locality or town at least a day before the murder either stayed in private house, but possibility of staying in the hotel room comparatively less but cannot be ruled Out, some locals may have provided some logistic support.

    3. The real killer knows the victim well (either through photographs or Personally seen him before the incident,

    4. Killer wants to create fear & terror in the minds of some people and warn them of similar fate.

    5. After killing, the culprits may not have left the city immediately, instead hide somewhere in the city with some local support.
    Bike
    6. They must have been in their discovery bike to the nearest petrol pump in the morning or late in the evening to fill the petrol.2. They may have got the bike from some local person, who is a party to the crime. They started travelling may be since early morning to reach the place of offence.
    Revolver
    7. The real killer may have used the same revolver at least once before killing, either he may have tested its working condition or he may used it to kill somebody earlier occasion, but this revolver not used to commit lot of crimes.

I wrote this on my logical conclusion based on few input from the media.

    Gladys,

State is responsible for law and order...its highest investigation agency is CID...it can order CID inquiry by itself.

CBI is a Central Investigation Agency...Sate or High/Supreme Court could request a CBI inquiry...accepting or rejecting the request is with Central Government.

In my opinion both these agencies don't have a good track record like UK Scotland Yard or US FBI...

Main problem with poor quality of CID and CBI is political interference...in UK and US no politician even President or PM could interfere in any investigation...this is beauty of western democracies...

Enjoy your stay in Kuwait...how is toz(sand storm) there now,,, looks like snow in US???

Our IA is under the control of HM, & in other words under influence of some control of political power. Naturally, their freedom is curtailed & subjected to power of HM. So is the present situation, when one commits no crime, & if made allegation by some one, is subjected to frequent enquiry, without even submitting any Reports, months after months. Best enquiry can be done only if they are given seperate entity or under Judicial System. So, is this case. Best enquiry can be done only & only if it is a independent body or under no influence of any political system.

    Ismail K Perinje,

If Karlburi spoke anything against the religion, we have the right to condemn it, but no one has the right to murder him.

Some Indians so hypocrites that if some writes against other religion they stand in line to support that person and blah blah about Freedom of Expression. But, when it comes to their religion they support the fatwa against those who write against their religion and take procession and destroy the public property. It is still in my mind how fanatics vandalized Bangalore and destroyed the public property just because one newspaper published a story about a deaf and dumb boy the title was “Mohammed The ….”
