Bhatkal: Rain intensifies, heavy downpour for 14 hours

Bhatkal, Sep 16: The intensity of rain has increased after a gap of nearly fifteen days throwing normal life in disarray. It rained heavily and continuously for 14 hours in Bhatkal. Traffic on Samshuddin circle in the heart of the city and other roads was disrupted.






















It rained on Monday night, Sep 14 and the whole day on Tuesday, Sep 15. Wells and lakes have got new life. The water in Chouthani lake has reached danger mark and anxious people have prepared to move.

The water on Shamsuddin circle and Rangikatte was flowing on the highway due to lack of proper drainage. Pedestrians were walking by cursing the municipality. Water has entered some shops on either sides of the roads.

There has been a rainfall of 66 mm between Monday morning 8 am and Tuesday morning 8 am. The total rainfall has increased to 3080.8 mm.If it continues to rain it will do away with rain scarcity and equal last year’s figures.

The sea was rough and most of the fishermen have reached the shore.

    Looks like the sea has entered the shores. At this rate future townships should be developed only on hilly areas!
    The rain pattern has totally changed. Those olden days rains were pouring in small quantity but extended days and sometimes weeks, making the weather very soothing. We used call 'bibiri rain'. Such atmosphere increases you hunger. Used to rush to buy pakode from any close by restaurants. Wow!
