Vice president greets people on Ganesh Chaturthi


New Delhi, Sep 16 (IANS): Vice President Hamid Ansari on Wednesday greeted people on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a Hindu festival which marks the birth of Lord Ganesh.

"I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi," Ansari said in a statement issued here.

The vice president said, "Lord Ganesh is revered as embodiment of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. To invoke Lord Ganesh before the start of any good work is a common practice in India."

"May this festival bring peace, harmony and prosperity in our lives," he said.
