Time for A R Rahman's 'ghar-wapsi', says VHP over fatwa row

New Delhi, Sep 16, (PTI) : Vishwa Hindu Parishad today asked A R Rahman, whose composition for a film on Prophet Muhammad has invited a fatwa against him, to re-convert to Hinduism, saying it was time for his "ghar-wapsi".

VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said Hindus will "welcome" the noted composer with open arms and alleged that he had converted to Islam for commercial reasons.

"The fatwa against Rahman is very unfortunate and what is more unfortunate is the language of revenge in it.... He composed music for a film not on the basis of any religion.
"I will appeal to Rahman... he should return, he should do 'ghar-wapsi'. The Hindu society is waiting for its son. We will not only welcome him with open arms but also ensure that no harm is done to him irrespective of how many fatwas are issued," Jain told reporters.

Ghar-wapsi has been a controversial programme run by certain Hindu groups aimed at converting Muslims and Christians back to Hinduism.

Iranian director Majid Majidi has directed the film "Muhammad: Messenger of God". Mumbai-based Raza Academy had objected to the film and issued a fatwa against Oscar-winner Rahman and Majidi, calling the movie against Islam.

Rahman has said he composed the music "in good faith and with no intention to cause offence".

The VHP also supported Union Minister Mahesh Sharma over his assertion that Hindu scriptures like Ramayana, Mahabharata and Gita should be made parts of school curriculum, saying teaching moral lessons was necessary to restore values in society and check heinous crimes.

Asked about holy books of other religions, Jain said it should be shown if they also give the same primacy to values as Hindu books.

    @ Shankar,

    Appreciated your thought.
For your information some Christians become extreme (not extremist’s) only after having or gulping few pegs.
Yes there are some denominations who try to pull people from other denominations of Christianity. You may be aware of such developments.
Otherwise, the situation should be ok.

Few people here don't even know the meaning of FATWA but comment as if they are the master holder in that !!
Can anyone say what was the FATWA about ? FATWA doesn't mean to kill someone ...FATWA should come from the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and the highest scholars of Islam who are authorized to do so..What is RAZA academy to issue FATWA ?

Back to AR Rehman ...If he is Sufi then let him remain but shouldn't write crap on the social media and misguide others as well...Music is not allowed in Islam and someone saying it is allowed then produce the reference...Islam is not something which is adopted as per the generation ..It was complete before and will remain complete until the last hour !

Dear VHP's before gaining fame you let go A R Rahaman. After gaining popularity 'ghar-wapsi' bulav. There are hundreds and thousands who changed their religion for the reasons whatsoever known to them but have not gained popularity. Why no "Ghar Wapsi" to them. They are happy with the religion they have chosen because they get equal treatment. There are people sitting at the doors of churches irrespective of the religion or do not know which religion they belong to. The one who gives them alms itself is a god to them.Have you ever tried to welcome or Embrace them, feed them, give them status in society, make them good human beings, provide medical aid blah blah... Give their 'Ghar-Wapsi' to them. This is greatness.Automatically people will 'Ghar-Wapsi' laut ayenge.

RITA,Germany..in Hinduism caste system is called VARNA NITI not VARNA BEDHA..this is created hundreds of year before for smooth function of society,economies..its distribution of work which is lately adopted by all successful business houses also..in VARNA NITI there is nothing called upper or lower division..every one has their own importance..but lately Kings for power misused this system, then Britishers came either they couldnt understood the system or they tried to divide & rule, which lately our political parties also followed..in many function, we treat Barbers/ carpentors (ACHARY) etc.,with lot of respect..we even touch their feet & seek blessings..you will also be surprised to know that in DK,if new baby born there is a practice of breast feeding the baby by a lady from SC/ST community and she will name the baby first(names like dooma, choma, thaniya etc)..you can check with elders of Hindu faith about this practice..Do you think if they are untouchables, could this practice ever followed!!..yes, lately for pure political reason it took ugly turn, but no faith is immune from this..if you go to any matrimonial site of CHRISTIAN OR MUSLIM faith, any one can easily find out hundreds of sects and how the bride or groom family prefer particular sect/faith..you can clearly identify which prayer hall for which sect/group..there is nothing different from Hindu system..

First of all VHP should understand fatwa doesn't mean killing or outcasting someone...there is misconception with the people..It means opinion on a matter...Not everyone will issue fatwa...only mufti aka top Islamic scholar will do so..If you ask any query with above person he will come up with a opinion ...this is called as fatwa...Reason behind this fatwa is ...Islam doesn't encourage making films on revered figures coz of falling into idolatry ...nor it encourages making potrait of peoole forget about prophets...Other reason for the above fatwa is historical innaccuracy depicited in the film..Forget about A.R Rahman..even if I do the film...Raza academy will come up with same opinion...even if you ask them ten times...(Remember Raza is a sufi affliated org)
But faith is a matter between you and God...Any person is a muslim one who believes in one God and prophet Muhammad as his final messenger...No muslim or Islamic authority will issue fatwa on anyone who believes in above tenats as non believer...if they do so they will themselves fall out of belief or out of Islam...this is Islamic opinion...So no academy had issued such decree...Vhp should understand...If you fall into such cheap tactics you are making other millions of devout hindus ashamed...Coz muslims never forced A.R rahman or yuvan shankar raja to choose Islam ...They themselves have chosen it...It is like muslims asking Rajnikanth to accept Islam coz some hindutva organisation opposed his role as tippu..

Hindu religion is still ridden with primitive caste system even in this modern age. He will be considered as lower caste and discriminated against every day everywhere in all religious functions and he cannot touch any upper caste people and cant go inside Temple. Priests will simply suck his blood by making him to do so many pujas of various Gods. Then for what happiness he should come to Hindu fold ???

No use as Kalburgi, Pansare & Dabholkar were silenced by these very people who want A R Rahman to return to his roots!
Many people embrace other religions from their religion of birth, & it is for them to find peace or answers for their questions about salvation which all want which is illusive till the end.
On Judgment day if Rahman has quoted anything it is his belief, nobody has the right to teach him.
But as they were taught- it is their good work of faith or sins that are judged as well as why they didn't use their talents in the betterment of the society.
Every one has the right to believe or reject what is written or interpreted by scholars.

Dalits, around 300 million of the Indian population has an assigned place eternally established by the High class of the society to do the menial jobs and to treat them like street animals. If they are get educated and improving their standard of life, the high class is afraid of losing their cheaper manual labor force in the farms and kitchen.

They are needed for the vote bank, else simply unwanted human beings. If they were treated like human beings by other religions, and if they change to the religion in their own will due to the freedom-love and dignity they felt, then that is called "forced conversion".

I can't forget that day when I was hugging the men and shaking hands with the ladies in a remote part of West Bengal closer to the Bhutan border, their smile to have a physical contact with somebody they think is of some higher status. What high status? All these radical organizations with religious title are going to destroy India with fight and bloodshed and the peace-loving people will have to seek refuge in some other land, which is quite too hard now because the whole world is plagued with refugee problems.

Thank God you have not come across any such group in Christianity in India, neither have I. In future if one comes up, I will be the first one to condemn it. But, unfortunately the future looks bleak, as the present dispensation is hell bent on hurting the feelings of others. People seem to be taking someones' silence as weakness....

FYI Christians don't have any extremist, terrorist or fundamentalistic groups like Muslims and Hindus.

Extremists are not and cannot be silent. Why do you include we Christians into it? We Indian Christians specially are peace loving, if there is more humiliations and attacks on churches then no day is far Christian extremism will take birth. If you have any of them right now then you name them as I don't find any.

    Excuse me, Mr. Swamy Mangalore,
I do agree with you that Muslims are fanatics when comes to Religion and this is because of they are not so much educated but still better then before, but Christians and Hindus are far better educated then us Muslims, since I am educated, I would like to say that whatever Fatwa means an objection, for that particular song, which my brothers thought something else, anyways, you don't need to put us down so low, as your words had an ill feelings towards Muslims, please cool down, but VHP always finds fault with us and tries to topple us down, that is true always and evrybody knows it.By the way are you VHP Group, if not good. Hindus are understanding good people. But Not VHP.
