Police complaint against Keralite over recruiting for IS

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 16 (IANS): A police complaint was filed on Wednesday against a man from Kozhikode in Kerala for promoting the Islamic State and using social media to recruit youths for the terror group, police said.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against 24-year-old Riab by Kerala Police in Malappuram district, A. Hemachandran, chief of the Kerala Police intelligence wing, told IANS.

Additional Director General of Police Hemachandran said Riab is believed to be now based in Syria.

On Tuesday, police picked up two youths each from the Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports after they were deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

All four was let off after questioning, but police and other central agencies were keeping a close tab on airports in the state.

Hemachandran said the FIR was a "follow-up" to Tuesday's incidents.
