Mangaluru, Sep 17: Taj Mahal of Agra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and arguably a symbol of eternal love, is coming to Mangaluru very soon, albeit with a difference. A replica of the Taj Mahal has been prepared and is being erected at Karavali Utsava grounds near Mangala stadium here.

The replica of the Taj Mahal will be displayed at the venue from September 19 to November 1 during the National Consumer Fair. The consumer fair is open from 4 pm to 9 pm every day except on Sundays and holidays, when it is open from 11 am to 9 pm.

The Taj Mahal replica is 50 feet in height, with width and length of 100 feet and 150 feet. As many as 150 workers have worked for 30 days to make the replica of the monument.

So if you always wanted to take a selfie at the Taj Mahal but could not go all the way to Agra, here's your chance to do so right here in Mangaluru!


About National Consumer Fair

National Consumer Fair (NCF) is a very popular event held in the city, comprising exhibitions and entertainment. Over the years NCF has also created replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World, the White House, Red Fort, Buckingham Palace, Jog Falls and so on. The exhbitions feature stalls from all over India on various products like handicrafts, crockery, home appliances, toys, fashion jewellery, garments, footwear, stationery, FMCG products and much more. The amusement section has a variety of fun rides.

    Dear Santan,
    Good information indeed. Though I have read something about Great Tajmahal of Agra in history, it’s the first time the real character of Shajahan is known to me through your message.
    For some Love is born while living and remains eternal even after death but some are quite opposite Love memories are being felt only after the person is no more in this world.
    Let the couple of Mangalore take full liberty to cherish their true Love when they take a selfie in from of this Replica.

    If we stop commenting and take initiative to be a prodigy, things will change drastically, when we face a problem, we deal with it for our betterment, so why not work in the Country for the Country? We always have a choice. I thing we can always have a new prodigy making changes and we can all evolve as better human beings who'd put our education in use.Corruption, immorality has increased but so has act of individualism and formal equality.
    I like the new initiative of having a replica of the Taj Mahal in Mangalore but I also hope that this initiative makes a new pathway for seeing love in a broad aspect and that people acknowledge it with an open mind.

    I have personally visited Taj Mahal at Agra and there is no doubt it is magnificent.
    But, historians debate whether it is a symbol of love or cruelty.
    1. Shahjahan killed Mumtaj's husband and married her.
    2. Mumtaj was 4th wife and after marrying her, he married another 3 wives, then where is love ?
    3. Mumtaj died on her 14th delivery, he did not bother about her health.
    4. After her death, he married her sister.
    5. After Tajmahal was completed, he cut hands of 40 chief craftsmen, so that they would not do another such mahal.
    These are the arguments of historians, whatever it is, Tajmahal is a thing no body will be able to make in future.

    I read your comments!
    I am deeply touched by the present situation with highly qualified people in India. When we were studying (1960-70's) graduation was a big thing and only the influential and outstanding candidates used to get jobs in Banks. I have my own share of tough days back in Mangalore those days.
    I am so grateful to God that got a chance to come abroad and able to make not only my life better but also the lives of so many members in my family.
    India's growing population, lack of rapid economic and Industrial growth and bureaucracy hurdles are taking heavy toll on today’s young generation. I am so sorry about that. And to make the situation worse never ending political gimmicks all through the year. Ruling party vs. opposition party. Nobody seems to be bothered about people’s state of affair. They want only power. How long this will continue.

    The Taj Mahal reigns supreme as one of the most recognisable and iconic images of India. The 10 most interesting facts about Taj Mahal.
    It is estimated to have taken more than 22,000 people to build this impressive building including labourers, painters, stonecutters, embroidery artists, and many others.
    According to legend it is believed that Emperor Shah Jahan had planned to construct another Taj Mahal in black marble on the other side of the river but the war with his sons interrupted his plans.
    The Taj Mahal takes on different colouring at different times of the day, from a pinkish hue in the morning, milky white in the evening and golden at night when lit by the moon. They say the changing colour resembles the changing mood of females - in particular the Emperor's queen.
    Built in memory of the Emperors third and most favourite wife Mumtāz Mahal, the Taj Mahal took 17 years to be completed.
    It is said that the death so crushed the Emperor that all his hair and beard were said to have grown snow white within just a few months.
    The four sides of the Taj Mahal are perfectly identical creating an astonishingly mirrored image on each side. It uses the principles of self-replicating geometry and symmetry of architectural elements.
    The Taj Mahal is surrounded by significant gardens and a number of other buildings including a mosque and guest houses, which make up the 17 hectares of land within the complex walls.
    The full height of the Taj Mahal is 171 metres (561 feet).
    More than 1,000 elephants were employed to transport the construction materials used to build the Taj.
    Many precious stones were ripped off from its walls by the British during the Indian rebellion of 1857.
