Obama invites arrested Muslim schoolboy to White House

Washington, Sep 17, (AFP) : US President Barack Obama invited a Muslim schoolboy to the White House after he was arrested and dragged off in handcuffs for bringing a homemade clock to class.

Obama congratulated 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed on his skills and issued a presidential invitation, in what amounts to a pointed rebuke to school and police officials who precipitated his arrest.

"Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great," the president tweeted.

The teen was led out of his Texas school after a teacher mistook his homemade digital clock for a bomb, prompting accusations of Islamophobia and an online backlash.

A photo of Ahmed standing in handcuffs while wearing a t-shirt with the US space agency NASA's logo was retweeted thousands of times in a matter of hours and "#IStandWithAhmed" was the top trending hashtag on Twitter.

    Good gesture by obama...He helped in bridging gaps....
    What ISIS does or Alqaeeda does cant be attested to general muslim population...like how world doesnt compare what Wirathu's 969 or bodu bala sena does in the name of buddhism with buddhism...or like what world doesnt do when LRA does or central african militants and anti balaka force does on muslims in the name of christianity with christianity...or like what world doesnt do when abhinav bharath does,sanathan sanstha or BD does in the name of hinduism with hinduism
    If you does think only.certain people canbe suspected because of his religion...there is inherently wrong with your thinking....All this hatred as helped my faith to spread more...the more you hate more the Islam is spreading....Reason behind it is curiosity on Islam for right or wrong reason..When you plan something...God is planning something else...

    Police get thousands of messages each day. Even if they make a few mistakes, it is far better to be safer than not. It only takes one Kasab to cause terror and destruction. The Police were correct in their actions. Obama is playing to the public sentiment just like Mr. Modi and public are being foolish.

    Had children been killed if the threat turned out real, you would have seen a lot of anger. This action of Obama is to distract people from the ongoing muslim refugee crisis.

    Though many of us feel that the teacher concerned should have thoroughly checked before calling the cops, since she thought that the clock could be a time-bomb and instead of taking a chance she used her “presence of mind” to protect herself and the students. I too agree that she would not have called the cops if the boy was a non-Muslim. This shows how the general public looks at the Muslim community because of Islamaphobia. In this case, whom should we blame? Do we have to blame the people who are scared of terrorism which is norm of any day or the people who are creating fear? Do I have to blame you for taking care of your family members whenever there is misconception about terrorism? I don’t think the teacher wanted to become a laughing stock by calling cops. This is just an example how scared an average person on the street about terrorism.
    I don’t think one would hate you just because of your religion. If someone hates you, then it is because of your misdeeds. If these Western Countries hate Muslim, they would not allow millions of Muslim refugees enter in their countries and provide them with food, clothing and shelter and they are going to have a royal life. Not only refugees, most of those illegally enter these countries and seek refuge in them are Muslims. Like in the past, Canada is going to send its military planes to bring at least 50,000 refugees from Syria. Nice gesture from these countries. Can you just name a rich Arab country allowing a single Muslim refugee in their country? One Arab country has come forward to build 200 Mosques in Germany for refugees. The need of the hour is taking care of them, not building Mosques.
    While the Western Countries are allowing the refugees, many people are questioning how many refugees will be true citizens in the coming days, how many will show their true color and opt for terrorism like some refugees did in the past. Many are worried that ISIS is sending their terrorists disguising as refugees.

    The teacher would have called the cops even if the boy was non-muslim. There are many cases in the West for gun violence in schools, isn't it? Isnt there an outcry then? The public are being fooled and distracted while muslim refugees flood the West.

    Broad minded and visionary U.S. President Barrack Obadma.
    Bold people can't be ordinary in thinking.
    Having said that, security people can't neglect precautionary directives.
    Otherwise there would have been several 26/11 like incidents for which security would be held directly responsible.
    If two major religions of this universe reciprocate like this and works to build bridges, world will become a better place to live in.
    Armour race can be used for poverty alleviation.

    Before arresting the boy, the police had to check the device whether it was a bomb or not but simply out of some panic doubt, arrested an innocent scientific minded boy and hurt his feelings and tormented him with fear. Now the U.S. police is overacting due to many unknown and known reasons which is very confusing to the public and at times some of the police are acting violent without any reason misusing their police position.

    What President Obama did was great and that will give the boy some national attention and inner healing.

    Definitely the teacher to be blamed for the racial discrimination. Before handcuffing the boy, they would have thoroughly checked and acted upon it. Now, what is emotional feeling of the boy? How he will react to it and who will condole him for handcuffing and insulting for no fault of his.

    I really appreciate the teacher. She had called the police immediately and it is the police who have arrested this boy, as they mistook it for bomb to home made clock.

    Is the student had informed the teacher about his invention of home made clock and intention to bring to the school.

    What police have done by handcuffing the boy was not at all right. Investigation by the police is absolutely right. After all prevention is better than cure.

    This is clear example to understand that when we are in behind of truth and if suppose some crooked minded ppl try to spread rumor information about us nothing going to happen to us, for moment we may get disappointed but when truth comes falsehood will shatter.

    this boy invented clock, expected teacher will appreciate him but which he got from teacher was completely opposite what boy taught,she might be taught in such cheap manner because he is Muslim boy, wht is there in her mind same thing she see with other ppl.

    If such kind of teacher's comes in our school and college then what will be the condition of future generation, which way these students will go , whom they will take as disciple?

    If enemy try to drag you down nothing going to happen you only those who try to create trouble will be victims.

    before this boy was not famous but after wrong complaint given by teacher he got famous that is the power of truth.

    it is shame on the inhuman who are jealous of Muslims and Islams for taking everything negatively. They are looking for every chance to criticize Muslims / Islams. Even if a new born child is found with a toy, these inhuman make a big shout that the baby has bomb and is a terrorists. I don't think they are human beings, They are worse than animals.     This is the beauty of the US. Even if there are some hardened racists or bigots in the US the US government never turns a blind eye or takes a lenient attitude towards them.
    President Obama's gesture to invite this young lad who was wrongly accused and handcuffed to the White House speaks highly of him as a human being and of the US government's attitude towards promoting racial and religious equality and harmony even if there are some bad apples in their society.
    No wonder there are so many queuing up from India and other parts of the world to go to the US not just for education and employment but also for a peaceful and better quality of life.
