Google searches make Bobby Jindal, Lindsey Graham debate winners

Washington, Sep 17 (IANS): Louisiana's Indian-American Governor Bobby Jindal and South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham managed to generate a great deal of interest online during the second-tier debate of four low-polling Republican presidential hopefuls.

The two easily dominated Google searches over the course of the debate in Simi Valley, California Wednesday, which also included former New York Governor George Pataki and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, according to Daily Dot Politics.

In the Google Trends search volumes, Graham quickly took the lead presenting himself as someone who understands the political realities of Washington and possesses an ability to reach across the aisle when necessary.

Jindal, on the other hand, presented himself as a true conservative as he urged Republicans to do everything in their power to block government funding to Planned Parenthood, including shutting down the government.

Google searchers for Jindal spiked, particularly at the very end of the debate. To what extent it would help his poll numbers is yet to be seen.

A standout performance during the first presidential debate last month gave a significant boost to former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina and helped her enter the main debate Wednesday.
