Bangalore: Sensational Salsa Dance Competition Wows Savvy Crowd

Bangalore, Jul 8: After buzzing the city's young crowd with a series of competitions such as the 'Guitar Competition 'and War of Dj's Bangalore Central, the city's most happening mall on Saturday hosted the 'Salsa Dance Competition' to round off its three-week-long festival 'Youth Buzz'.
The Salsa dance competition consisted of two rounds. In round one all participating couples, danced together for three minutes to the tune of the music selected by the judges.
The excitement hit the peak in round two where each finalist couple danced on the rack of their own choice. The parameters for judging the contestants were choreography,innovation, presentation,entertainment value,costumes and music interpretation.
The couple Richard and Sneha were declared the stars of the evening and took home a whopping Rs 40,000 and runner up Sunil and Bindu were awarded gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000.
The Judges for the exhilarating contest were Lourd Vijay and Sanjay. Lourd Vijay, founder and artistic director of LVDS has revolutionized Indian-westren dance over and over again in India - most notably,by introducing Salsa in 1997. One of his notable accomplishments is choreographing and working with Jackie Chan for the movie 'Myth'.
He has also choreographed various theatre and Bollywood productions. Latin Dance exponent Sanjay, founder of Team 5678, has danced in over 500 shows and his Team 5678 is the first Indian Group to perform for the renowned musical group Deep Forest (Grammy winners in 1993).
'Youth Buzz' started on June 16 and scheduled to end on July 8.
