I had gone to Mangalore on Ganesh Chowthi holiday to witness this tragic death of our friend Cheyyan, who is a very responsible person who takes care of his family from his Salary, he always tries genuinely to make the 2 end meet, income n expenses! Such tragic death has put everyone around him in a shock of their lives including us friends!
As I drive my own 4 Wheeler, the traffic is the most dangerous place to be in life! Going to shabarimala, n going to vettican city n on to the hajj, pilgrim does a lot of vrathas, actually anyone who goes on to the main roads should do no less vruthas n prayers in today's Indian,especially SOUTH INDIAN TRAFFIC!
Such drivers of heavy vehicles Must be suspended from driving for the next 6 months n also probably take care of the part of compensation provided to the victims for the next 3 yrs,! Each n every driver must think the vehicle coming opp to him is carrying his own kiths n kins!!
As public we can only pray because every rule they make after finding the loop hole, just like the anti virus software !
May the soul of our friend rest in peace !!

I travel by bus everyday from Bantwal to Mangalore vise versa, most people here blame bus drivers. I agree that they drive rashly, but not all. The smaller vehicles should be more alert while overtaking bigger vehicles. most 2 wheeler riders don't follow most of the Traffic rules, don't wear helmets, triple rides & over speeding has become common. End of the day we blame others for our loss. Teenagers of 14 years are allowed to ride bike on Highways by their parents, where do we stand? when it comes to the safety of our self & others.

Pls utilize this Comment column by advising how to avoid such incidents in future rather than blaming & commenting without the complete awareness of the cause. We all are Humans, we need to be wise, not robots to act as programmed, lets not compete with each other. Lets guide & support the future of our Generation. We all want to reach our destinations on time, speeding is not the solution, starting our journey a little early & controlling our speed limit along with following traffic rules will save alot of lives. Be safe we all have someone waiting at Home.

This incident may result in Bus Drivers and Owners realising that their lives and property stands at a greater risk than the vehicles they collide with. Therefore, they may now resort to driving with a higher level of alertness as they would now know that its not just a case of damaging another vehicle, but can kill them as well. It feels very safe when you are inside a large big bus, and they may not readily understand the feeling of risk and fear that other smaller vehicle riders / drivers experience (Especially two wheelers). There should be social events organised for Bus / Truck / Tempo / Auto drivers wherein exampoles of bad accidents are shown to them, together with simple training imparted so that they know how to avoid accidents in practice (Not just theory).The TRuck and Bus dealers should sponsor such events, as their committment stops only with the sale of the asset. They need to go that extra mile to train the drivers so that the cities in which their vehicles operate are safer. (JCB - a european company and Volvo impart compulsory training to the drivers / operators, as that may be a part of the requirement to fulfill the conditions of 1 year or 3 year Manufacturers warranty. Hope this suggestion is taken and makes a different to road safety. Otherwise, there will be many more deaths taking place and forgotten too soon (With only the Family members suffering the loss)

Horrible. still more horrible when it is believed that the accident was caused due to reckless driving. Even after accidents after accident, it is very sad to note that no action is taken by the authorities. It is high time that licences of such drivers are revoked. I had noticed that conductors do not issue tickets to a number of passengers on almost all the routes and I do not know why the owners/government is not concerned. I believe, some times, extra unscheduled trips are taken by some drivers/conductors after adjusting the time and money so collected, without issuing tickets are shared by conductor/driver and others involved. Also, conductors do not return change even when they have sufficient change just to black market the same. Even they argue with passengers. Very rude conductors and do not know to respect passengers perhaps due to arrogance due to undue income. RTO/police kindly take stern action to avoid repeating such incidents causing death of innocents.

Very much surprised to see buses have no first aid box or no fire extinguisher in place. When will India become a developed nation? Money alone not going to make a developed nation. All the passenger vehicles should have seat belts and minimum safely should be in place.

News says after the collision the bus dragged the bike to some extent. So, it may be possible that while dragging the bus driver might have driven the bus towards left side of the road. So just looking at the photos we cannot judge who is at fault - Biker or the Bus driver.

This is a lesson to the private bus drivers, who do not care of human life. Reckless driving can only cause such a huge damage. I hope the owner of the bus is going to take this shock as surely insurance is not going to pay the full amount as it was due to negligence.
