Soldier, civilian injured in Pakistani firing in Jammu


Jammu, Sep 18 (IANS): A soldier and a civilian were injured on Friday in shelling by Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, a police official said.

The injured soldier was identified as Sepoy Paramjit Singh of 64 Rashtriya Rifles.

"The civilian identified as Muhammad Ashraf, son of Gul Muhammad Bheroti of Basooni village, was seriously injured in Pakistan shelling in Balakot sector today (Friday)," a police official told IANS in Jammu.

"The injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment," he added.

"Indiscriminate shelling and firing started from Pakistan side at 6.30 a.m. and is still going on. We have also started appropriate retaliation," the official said.
