UP CM launches Delhi Dynamos kit in front of Taj Mahal

Agra, Sep 19 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday promised to support football in the state at the grassroots level.

"For promoting cricket we have taken a big leap. Perhaps India's best cricket stadium is coming up in Lucknow. Football is a game which common people can also play and the costs are not high compared to other games. It will be our effort to develop football stadiums in the state," Yadav said.

The chief minister was speaking at the Taj Nature Park ground on Saturday evening against the backdrop of the 17th century monument of love, after unveiling the jersey and launching the kit of Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Delhi Dynamos.

Dynamos president Prashant Agarwal said the tie up with UP Tourism will strengthen sporting ties and help promote football in the state. "The partnership involves UP Tourism being on the Delhi Dynamos kit. We would be soon launching a residential academy in UP," he said.

UP Tourism officials said the kit launch was the first of its kind where a club's colours were unveiled in front of one of the seven wonders of the world.

Delhi Dynamos plans to take football across the country. "This was also the first time the players, coaches and the management introduced themselves to the Delhi Dynamos faithfuls in a bid to welcome them to be a part of the family," Agarwal said.
