Rains bring down mercury in Himachal


Shimla, Sep 20 (IANS): The entire Himachal Pradesh on Sunday saw light to moderate intermittent showers, leading to the maximum temperature dipping by four to five degrees.

Precipitation occurred at many places, but there was no appreciable change in the minimum temperatures, a meteorological centre official told IANS.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded 18 mm rain, while it was 15 mm in picturesque tourist resort Manali and 10 mm in Kotkhai in Shimla district.

State capital Shimla saw moderate intermittent spells of rain throughout the day and recorded a maximum temperature of 19.2 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala recorded a maximum of 26.8 degrees Celsius, while it was 12.8 degrees in Kalpa.

The Met predicts heavy rainfall in low and mid hills till Tuesday.
