President greets Trinidad and Tobago, Guinea Bissau


New Delhi, Sep 23 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday greeted the people of Trinidad and Tobago and Guinea Bissau on their Republic Day and Independence Day respectively.

"On behalf of the government, the people of India and on my own behalf, please accept warm greetings and felicitations to you and the friendly people of Trinidad and Tobago on the occasion of your Republic Day," Mukherjee said in a message to Anthony Carmona, president of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The president said relations between India and Trinidad and Tobago were traditionally warm and friendly.

"The history and culture shared by both the countries stand witness to our close ties. I am confident that under your leadership we will be able to further enrich our bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of the two nations," the president said.

Mukherjee also greeted the government and people of Guinea Bissau on their Independence Day.

In his message to Jose Mario Vaz, president of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Mukherjee said, "On behalf of the government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to convey warm greetings and felicitations to you, to the government and the people of Guinea Bissau on the occasion of your Independence Day".

"India and Guinea Bissau enjoy warm and friendly relations. I am confident that our bilateral ties will further strengthen in the years ahead for the mutual benefit of the two nations," he added.
