Mangaluru: Glass door of ATM found shattered, blood stains at spot

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Sep 29: Panic prevailed at IDBI ATM kiosk at KSRTC bus stand here on the night of Tuesday September 29, after the glass pane on its door was found shattered.

The incident came to light when a customer came to withdraw cash at the ATM and found the glass shattered. He immediately alerted the KSRTC security guards.

It is surmised that the glass shattered on its own due to air blast from the inside. However, blood stains were found near the ATM machine inside. People at the spot expressed suspicions that a customer might have sustained injuries from broke glass pieces.

There was no security guard for the ATM. Even after an hour of the incident, no IDBI bank official came to the spot.

Barke police visited the ATM and investigated. Police sources said that prima facie it looked like the glass broke due to air blast, but it would be investigated from other angles also.

The CCTV image may be examined to find the exact cause for the incident.

Some locals at the spot claimed that they saw a person breaking the glass from the outside. However, others felt that there may not be any foul play, as anyone could have just opened the door of the ATM instead of taking the trouble to break the glass. The blood stains however have given risen to suspicions.
