Mangaluru: Academy launches campaign to promote Beary language

Mangaluru, Oct 2: 'Beary Bhasha Prachara Abhiyana' (campaign to promote Beary language) organised by Beary Sahitya Academy was inaugurated in front of the DC's office here on Thursday October 1.

Mangaluru City Corporation mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred flagged off the campaign horse cart on the occaison.

K Mohammed, president of Chikkamagaluru district Beary Okkuta released a CD of Beary songs. Beary Bhasha Prachara Abhiayana leaflet was unveiled by Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, assistant director, All India Radio, Mangaluru.

A memorandum was submitted to Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, requesting the All India Radio, Mangaluru to air the Beary songs, news and other cultural events at least for 30 minutes a day.

Addressing the gathering, mayor Jacintha said, "The rituals, culture and principles of every language have to be developed and the government is trying to help in every possible way. Beary Academy is growing and the momentum should not slow down. The make of the audio CD deserves praise and so also his work. Beary Academy is doing commendable work."

K Mohammed said, "The government has recognised Beary language. We need more awareness for the improvement of the language. Every person should be proud of their mother tongue. Do not hate anyone. Everybody should respect all languages."

Mohammed Sharif Nirmunje, Basheer Kinya and Ashraf Apolo sang Beary songs and entertained the crowd.

B A Mohammed Haneef president of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy welcomed the guests. Umarabba, registrar compered the ceremony.

Yogish Shetty, president of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, Abdul Latif, corporator, B M Aslam, N E Mohammed, Basheer Ahmed and others were also present.

    Its a good initiative we all tulunaad people should provide support for better ness of Beary language.Beary language is also a integral part of tulunaad, so need to support the language equally as Tulu and konkani.
