Udupi, Oct 2: An advanced eye care technology facility Visumax Femtosecond Laser Bloodless LASIK and SMILE machine installation and inauguration ceremony was held at Prasad Netralaya Super Specialty Eye Hospital on Friday October 2.
Oscar Frenandes, member of Rajya Sabha inaugurated the Lasik work-up station, while Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development, inaugurated Visumax Femtosecond Laser System.
Speaking on the occasion, Fernandes said, “Any work gets success by parent’s blessing. He appreciated the director and said he did a good job by introducing such new technology to coastal Karnataka. Society gave recognition to Dr Krishna Prasad in their hearts.”
He urged the public to make use of available facilities. “Dr Prasad is more excited to bring new technology to Udupi. Investment is not more important than service and he has proved this. There is a need to develop human values in our life. Udupi district stands first in many sectors; Prasad Netralaya will also stand best in the district in future.”
Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi MLA, said after inaugurating Pressbyond Laser Blended Vision equipment used for correcting presbyopia, “A true doctor is one who treats poor patients with love.”
He further said, “People always comment about politicians as well as doctors, even if they provide good service. Human values are very important. In order to get a standard service, the public has to pay for it.”
Padmashree Awardee Syed Kirmani launched Lasik Lounge and he congratulated Dr Prasad’s parents. He also wished the Prasad Eye Care team all the best.
Dr Krishna Prasad K, medical director, in his keynote address, said “The machine was imported from Germany for the first time to coastal Karnataka. The system costs Rs 4.5 crore with 40 percent concession. The total cost of surgery is about Rs 90, 000, but the same surgery can found at a much expensive rate in Bengaluru.”
He further said, the medical treatment charge is very cost-effective in compared to other places. There are nearly 11 places with this equipment in the nation. Padmashree awardee Syed Kirmani, Malathi Krishnamurthy Holla, international para athlete, and other dignitaries were received with honours by the Prasad Netralaya management.
K Raghupati Bhat, former MLA Udupi, Yashpal Suvarna, president, undivided fish federation and marketing, and Arun Shetty were present as chief guests.
Dr Prasad extended the welcome to the gathering and M V Acharya proposed the vote of thanks. Vijayendra Vasanth compered the programme.
