Bengaluru: IAS officer D K Ravi killed self, not murdered- CBI

Daijiworld Media Network- Bengaluru (RJP)

Bengaluru, Oct 4: The central bureau of investigation (CBI), which has been investigating the IAS officer D K Ravi death case has come to the conclusion that the death was not a murder, but a confirmed suicide.

The CBI is set to file a ‘B’ report before a sub divisional magistrate once it gets approval from CBI headquarters, said CBI sources.

It is learned that the report was ready a week back and will be filed under section 174 of the criminal procedure code within couple of days. As the case was directly given to CBI without any first information report (FIR), the CBI will file the case in a court. And there will not be any further registration of any FIR for prosecution of anybody in the case.

The CBI has its own protocol and as per it the final decision of the headquarters is awaited based on all the reports submitted to headquarters.

D K Ravi (34), a 2009 batch IAS officer who was working as additional commissioner of commercial tax (enforcement) in Bengaluru, was found hanging at his official residence in Koramangala on March 16. In the beginning there were allegations that officer was murdered for adverse positions he took against anti social elements as IAS officer.

The CBI was entrusted with the investigation of the case on March 23 and it registered a preliminary enquiry on April 16 on the request of the state government.

The CBI during its investigations found that Ravi was involved in a land deal where he was associated with a real estate company R and H Properties with his friend Hari Krishna. Ravi’s wife Kusuma and his IAS batchmate’s husband were also the investors in the company. The company was trying to acquire 50 acres of land.

Post mortem on Ravi’s body had concluded that death was caused by ‘asphyxiation due to hanging'. Experts at the central forensic science laboratory (CFSL) and all India institute of medical sciences have confirmed that there was no foul play in Ravi’s death. A viscera test at CFSL also said that Ravi committed suicide.

Initial investigations had indicated that Ravi had communicated his intent to take his life in a mobile message to his woman IAS batchmate. The state government had too initially told the Karnataka High Court that a failed relationship with his batchmate was a key factor in Ravi’s death.

The CBI which had probed Ravi’s professional and personal lives for evidence that could suggest involvement of any form of external coercion leading to his death, has come to a conclusion that there was no professional reason behind the death. The report says that Ravi was depressed due to personal reasons which made him take the extreme step.

Soon after the death home minister calls it suicide, also police commissioner, before the Post mortem report.

The incident comes under the purview of Home Ministry. HM has not visited the spot, not even to pay last rites to officer.

The general opinion across state/nation is for the CBI enquiry, including some congress leaders like Janardhana Poojary.

Only CBI can unearth the karma kanda. But Siddu is unlikely to take on George/Sonia and give case to CBI probe.

Here is a typical case of so many controversial stories being created, protested on streets and debated on television just because nobody wanted to know the truth. This is what we all Indians are. Anything happens, we jump to conclusions and start a trial on TV. Make a mess of police who are enquiring and create suspicion of politicians. When the truth comes out with from the top most investigating body in the country, we still doubt and say it is wrong because we want to believe that it is a murder and not suicide. How ironic.

Is there any restrictions with regards to committing suicide for educated, rich, famous personalities?

NO... it is situation, which makes people to take such extreme step.

DK Ravi's death is undoubtedly a big loss for the state as he was considered most eligible, hardworking and sincere officer. But, drama took place in the state after his death was just a political gimmick by opposition parties to defame ruling Govt., nothing else... but, they did not succeed!

Where is the morale of self proclaiming ethical & professional journalists like TIMES NOW fame ARNAV GOSWAMY..., who accused Elected govt of Karnataka in this case.

Shameless..., If this type of scenario continues then the hope of Hindustan becoming super power is remote ..., despite we are a country of more than a billion people.

It is high time people to understand that Media hanged UPA II at the center by telling people that they are corrupt..., (recently even Supreme Court in its wisdom exempted MMS from interrogation as there was no substantive case to prove), ... but the real fact is, ... whether it is 2G/3G, CWG, Coal Gate etc., the premature conclusion by the MEDIA trial that Congi is corrupt based on CAG report (where in the conclusion was based on assumptions which is in contradiction to the then prevailing policies), ... One must take note of the fact that the hypothetical losses were due to policies of the then NDA govt.
