Kundapur, Oct 6: MP Shobha Karandlaje visited the Goliangadi residence of Suchitra who was raped and murdered at Karikodlu in Goliangadi and comforted her family.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Karandlaje said that she will be speaking to the commissioner to urge for death or life imprisonment for the suspect in the gruesome rape and murder under provisions of the law. “It should be ensured that no lawyer argues in favour of the suspect. Suitable compensation will be urged for the family of the deceased,” she said.

“Big crimes can be prevented by controlling small mistakes. So, the police department should not give room for small unpleasant incidents. Incidents of rape are on the rise and if the suspects are handed severe punishment, such incidents will not recur,” added Karandlaje.

District BJP president Thingala Vikramarjuna Hegde, Kundapur constituency president Rajesh Kaveri, district Raitha Morcha chief secretary Raghavendra Uppooru, Shyamala Kunder, Kiran Kodgi, Kuthyaru Naveen Kumar Shetty, and Vijaya Kumar were present.
