'Zubaan' director feted at Busan film festival

New Delhi, Oct 6 (IANS): Director Mozez Singh's musical drama "Zubaan" was feted with the Rising Director Asia Star award at the ongoing 20th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. He calls it a "surreal" experience.

"The whole Busan experience has been tremendous. From being the opening film and having our world premiere in such a fabulous way to winning the Rising Director award, all of it is so surreal and exciting.

"It feels very rewarding to know that people are loving 'Zubaan' and that's all that really matters," Singh said in a statement.

"Zubaan" opened the fest -- Asia's biggest -- on October 1, marking it as the first time that a Bollywood musical was achieving the feat. The film features "Masaan" fame actor Vicky Kaushal and Sarah Jane Dias.

The film is produced by Guneet Monga and Shaan Vyas of Sikhya Entertainment and Metamozez Entertainment.

“Zubaan” is the story of a young man who has a fear of music and is set in Punjab and Delhi.
