Mangaluru, Oct 6: District BJP workers gathered in front of the Mangaluru City Corporation on Tuesday October 6 to protest against the administration of the Congress party on various issues which the people are facing and demanded to take necessary steps.

Addressing the protestors, BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Mijar said, "All the developmental work has been stalled as soon as Congress Party got the power in Mangaluru City Corporation. People are now suffering because of this. When BJP was in power, every revolutionary developmental works were done and all the main roads had been concretised and widened. But now the Congress is not giving any attention towards the roads and it is giving false promises of building footpaths everywhere."

"Commuters and pedestrians are facing lot of problems and are blaming the Congress. Two wheeler riders are riding with holding their life in their hands. Media is highlighting the ruined roads but the corporation is in deep sleep. Even the water supply is completely shattered and administration is trying to test the patience of the people. Street lights are also not working." he added.

"MCC is collecting excess money for the door to door waste collection. Lot of projects were taken up regarding eradication of Malaria by former Mayor and many other projects were also undertaken. But no project seems to be completed." he said.

Sudhir Shetty Kannur general secretary of district BJP said, "Before the elections, Congress had promised many things in their manifesto. But none of them is fulfilled. There are many potholes on the roads everywhere and the city corporation is neither trying to fill the potholes nor responding to the demands from the people. Vas lane and Jyothi circle to Bunts Hostel roads are the only two roads done by the Congress without drain and footpath. Waste management in the city is a headache for the people."

Premanand Shetty, the corporator said that Congress has completely failed in fulfilling the needs of the people. "All the developmental work have been stopped due to their internal conflicts. Former leader Janardhan Poojary had said that Congress would not increase the tax percentage of 'self assessment tax', but his own party workers are going against his promise."

Another corporator Thilak Raj said "We have received a good Mayor who is not able to answer any questions. Congress is trying to develop themselves rather looking for the betterment of the society."

Vedavyasa Kamath, Roopa D Bangera, Dr Bharath Shetty, Satish Prabhu, Divakar and others were also present on this occasion.
