Doha: Konkani movie 'Home Sweet Home' screened

Doha, Oct 8: Konkani speaking community of the Church of Our Lady of Rosary Qatar in association with GWA, MCC and MCA organized the screening of the Konkani movie 'Home Sweet Home' on the evening of Friday October 2 at the Asian Town Theatre, industrial area. The movie was screened in association with Go Goa Gollywood productions.








































'Home Sweet Home' makes a statement on the current affairs of Goa, a small state which is losing its land to non-Goans starring Rajdeep Naik, John Dsilva and Aryan Khedekar.

A short felicitation programme was conducted by Reena Castelino during the intermission. Fr Anand Castelino the spiritual director of the Konkani speaking community of Qatar was the chief guest of the evening. Guests of honours were Mathew Estrocio- president of the Konkani speaking community of Qatar, Simon D’Silva president of Goan Welfare Association (GWA), Riana Pinto representing Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Aloysius D’Souza representing Mangalore Cultural Association, Swapnil Shetkar – director of 'Home Sweet Home', Sanjay Naik –executive producer of 'Home Sweet Home' and Merwyn Ferrao representing Expat Properties. Swapnil Shetkar and Sanjay Naik were presented mementos by Fr Anand on behalf of the Konkani speaking community.

Goan Welfare Association (GWA) was the main sponsor of the event, Expat Properties were the Diamond Sponsor, Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) and Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) were the co-sponsors and the other sponsors were Camillo Gaunkar and family, Socorro Vaz and family, Melwyn Barretto and family, Reggie Vaz and family and Seby Mascarenhas and family. Mercure Grand Hotel Doha was the official hotel of the event and Digital Print Center was the official printer.

The audience appreciated the story of the movie as it created an awareness of land affairs that happen in India and many mentioned that they are eagerly awaiting the release of the next part of the movie.

The Konkani speaking community wholeheartedly thanked all the sponsors of the event and all the other volunteers who were instrumental in organizing the screening of the movie 'Home Sweet Home' in Qatar.
