Udupi: Head constable of Karkala town police dies of cardiac arrest

Udupi, Oct 8: A 42-year-old head constable, attached to Karkala town police station, died due to cardiac arrest here on Thursday October 8.

The deceased, Santhosh Nittur from Udupi, had been working in the police department for the past 15 years.

On Thursday morning, Santhosh Nittur left from home to his workplace as usual, but on the way he suddenly developed severe chest pain. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Santhosh was deputed to the district crime investigation bureau (DCIB) of Udupi where he worked for many years. He also rendered his services in excise and anti-lottery squad in Udupi.

Santhosh is survived by his wife and a 5-year-old daughter.

    very sad, yes, preventive check ups may help in many cases, but sudden cardiac death sometimes cannot be predicted. but yes avoid risk factors especially smoking also.

    Gone are the days when preventive health check ups were considered un-necessary.
    Not only police but for every one- every year check up for BP sugar and blood fat check up - can alert us for possible danger in advance.
    Deep fried restaurant food or bakery items with Vanaspathi/dalda - is inviting early death( hardens the arteries or clog them).
    Every day consumption of vegetables and fruits and restricting chicken for weekend is having a healthy choice .
    Newtons 3rd Law : every action has equal and opposite reaction.

    All the bad food choices and disregard for our health backfires before we reach 50 years!

    Very Sad incident May his soul rest in peace
    All Police personal after the age of 40 must do regular check up of BP ,Blood sugar ,ECG with stress test .Govt must sponsor this for police people at least through Govt hospitals .In TN Jayalaitha has launched a Scheme in which all above a certain age are entitled for Free check up
