Kundapur, Oct 9: In connection with a case concerning the mining scam of Ballari, a person from a nearby village was arrested by the police personnel from Ballari district.

The arrested person has been identified as Muhammed Iqbal from Moodugopady in the taluk.

Policeman attached to Gajanur police station in Ballari district came here on Thursday October 8 night, arrested the accused and took him to their district.

A case was registered in Gajanur police station in 2009, relating to mining activity of manganese ore within the jurisdiction of that police station. The case is under investigation, but Iqbal had so far not visited the police station.

The police personnel, who arrived here, closed in on Iqbal based on the registration number of a tipper truck he had used for mining activity then. They went to Moodugopady, took Iqbal into custody from his house, and escorted him to Gajanur in connection with the above investigation.
