Abu Dhabi market fire: Drone helps ground teams control blaze

Abu Dhabi, Oct 10 (Emirates247): Abu Dhabi Civil Defence teams rapidly intervened to put out a fire that broke out at the Bani Yas municipal market in the emirate yesterday.

A total of sixteen shops were burnt in the fire, but there were no casualties.

Captain Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, Head of Media and Public Relations at the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Abu Dhabi, said the incident happened at 3pm.

Eight teams – firefighters and civil defense - moved to the site and controlled the fire, preventing it from spreading to other stores.

A drone from the air wing also participated in the rescue and control operations, transferring images from the air to the operations room, which helped with decisions on the ground.

Investigations are still underway to determine the cause and circumstance of the fire.

Civil Defence praised the positive contribution of the public and their cooperation with the police teams.
